Pica studio is the design practice of John Chastain ( born 1964, Indianapolis, Indiana ), a graduate of Herron School of Art, IUPUI ( Indiana’s premier art school ). John has studied with some of the most well-known modern designers of the twentieth century including Paul Rand, Wolfgang Weingart, and Armin Hoffman.

John has taught typography to Visual Communication students at Herron School of Art, IUPUI, and has studied graphic design at Yale University School of Art Summer Program in Brissago, Switzerland ( 1994 ).
